Who We Are

Land Stewards are individuals who help to restore and maintain Midpen trails and preserves through our single-day hands-on projects in the preserves. There are approximately 100 fun, educational, and impactful projects annually that range from 2-5 hours in support of the strategic resource management plans at Midpen.

Note: New projects are posted monthly on the first Wednesday in the Opportunities section of this site (and populated below on this same page). 

What We Do

      • Habitat restoration (removal of invasive, non-native vegetation, planting native vegetation, installing erosion control materials, etc.)
      • Trail brushing and maintenance
      • Fence construction and repair
      • Other resource management activities

Qualifications

  • Advance registration is required.
  • First time volunteers Step 1: Create a volunteer profile/account and complete the Volunteer Agreement and Release and Waiver of Liability form.
  • Step 02: Return to the project webpage and click the green "Register" button in the upper right corner to register; be sure to scroll to the bottom and click "Submit Opportunity Response".
  • Minimum age is generally 14 with occasional project work appropriate for aged 12 years and up; parent/guardian approval is required and no 'drop-off' allowed. Refer to the project details for age restrictions.

Training

  • No advanced training or experience required; bring your enthusiasm, we'll bring the training, gloves, and tools!
  • No commitment – attend one project or sign-up for as many as fit your schedule.

Difficulty

Each project has an associated difficulty rating. Look for one of these icons in the opportunity description to sign up for projects that fit your comfort level.
