Join Midpen staff for a bench replacement workday at Cloverdale Ranch on Wilbur's Watch Trail. This is a unique opportunity to work at one of Midpen's coastal properties. We will be removing 4 failing benches and installing two new Midpen standard benches. Tasks include materials transport, digging foundation holes, bench assembly, and concrete preparation. Staff will provide training on hand tool safety and guide volunteers in performing the work. This project is an excellent opportunity for first-time volunteers who feel capable of meeting the physical demands.

After the workday, while you're out on Route 1, we suggest visiting nearby Pigeon Point Light Station State Historic Park to check out tidepools and learn about the lighthouse's history.

Note special start time of 9:30 a.m. to allow more driving time, and end time of 2 p.m.

Project difficulty: STRENUOUS (about two 2 mi roundtrips of hiking with tools and materials uphill/downhill)

Join Midpen staff for a trail maintenance workday at Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve on Fir Knoll Trail. This gently graded trail offers a well-shaded route below the evergreens. We will be restoring the width of the trail by clearing accumulated soil, removing woody debris from the trail surface, and trimming back some poison oak and berry vines. This is an opportunity to learn more about how we keep the trails accessible for users throughout the year. Staff will provide training on hand tool safety and guide volunteers in performing typical maintenance activities. This project is an excellent opportunity for first-time volunteers!

We will be restoring the width of the trail by clearing accumulated soil, removing woody debris from the trail surface, and trimming back some poison oak and berry vines. This is an opportunity to learn more about how we keep the trails accessible for users throughout the year. Staff will provide training on hand tool safety and guide volunteers in performing typical maintenance activities. This project is an excellent opportunity for first-time volunteers!
