Description

Join Midpen staff for a fun workday removing invasive yellow star thistle and malta thistle at Loma Prieta Ridge, a closed area of Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve. This project will help improve habitat for the recently discovered Santa Cruz Kangaroo Rat, which has not been seen in this area since 1947. Staff will provide training on plant identification, removal techniques, and information about why we want to remove these plants from our local landscape. This project is an excellent opportunity for first-time volunteers!

This project will require shuttling and sharing a vehicle with staff and other volunteers. Please arrive on time and be available to stay for the entire project.
